2008 Top 5 RB's

NOTE:  Does not represent our Quant Value Pick Data.  Article based on consenus staff projections.

1) LADAINIAN TOMLINSON - Not as easy as past seasons, but yet again, LT gets the top nod!   So forget the 1474 yards rushing, 475 yards receiving and 18 total TDs.  Thats nice sure, but LT finished the fantasy year, weeks 13-16 (the money weeks) with 546 rushing yards and 7 TDs.  LT won alot of teams their championship this year and will once again put up huge numbers in 08.  LT is still one of the most versatile backs in the league, putting up yardage on the ground and through the air.

2) BRIAN WESTBROOK - Speaking of versatile, here he is - Mr. Versatile.  Westy put up over 2000 total yards this season and along with 1333 yards rushing, Westbrook added in 90 receptions and 771 yards receiving.  Two factors kept him #2 behind LT, Westy didnt quite have the touchdown numbers needed to grab the top spot and his injury history concerns us just enough to keep him in the on deck circle.  That said, grab Westbrook with confidence, this guy is a stud!  (See below)

3) STEPHEN JACKSON - We give SJax a one time pass for the groin injury, revolving quarterbacks, and lack of any offensive line play in 2007.  Both those factors withstanding, Jackson still finished the year with over 1000 yards rushing even though he missed 4 games.  There isn't a more dominant physical specimen at the running back position than SJax.  He punishes defenders, has speed, and can catch out of the backfield.  We think he lives up to the 2006 performance in 2008.

4) ADRIAN PETERSON - And he was just a rookie?  Very few first year players accomplish what Peterson did this past season.  A single game rushing record - 296 yards and 3 TDs, and another game with 224 rushing yards and 3 TDs.  Huge!  Minnesota is a run first team.  They may even be a run second team as well.  Although he wont be the only RB in the backfield, Peterson should see a heavy load in 2008 and that could vault him into the top 3.  We wouldnt be surprised at all to see 1500+ yards rushing, so buckle up.

5) RYAN GRANT - Yes, Ryan Grant.  Tough call here, but how can we overlook the performances he put on after taking over the starting role.  He finished the regular season with touchdowns in 6 consecutive games, 7 TDs total.  Even more impressive was the playoff game turned in vs. the Seahawks.  Beginning the game with 2 early fumbles, Grant battled back to finish the game with 207 yards rushing and 3 TDs.  If Farve returns, big if, Grant should have plenty of room to run once again in 2008.
